Privacy policy – Nzsitereviews

Publishing reviews of betting sites does not call for much personal information, and Nzsitereviews gathers no more than that. The Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles (section 22) are the law that governs.

Responsible agency

Personal information collected through Nzsitereviews is the responsibility of the body that operates it. Name, address and e-mail are available at sitereviewsnz.com, and the same route is used for all questions about personal information.

What is gathered

When a page loads, the server logs the IP address, date and time, the requested address, the volume of data sent, the referring page and the browser type. These entries serve security and abuse detection, and after 90 days they are erased or abbreviated so they no longer point to anyone. A person who writes to the editors also provides a name, e-mail address and message text, kept solely to answer. Because there are no reader accounts, deposits or bets, no payment details or identity documents are held.

Purposes and principles

Information is gathered for lawful purposes linked to the site: running it safely, answering messages and, after a banner choice, measuring the audience (IPP 1). People are told what is collected and why (IPP 3), and the information is used only for those ends (IPP 10). No automated decisions are taken and no profiles are made.

Recipients and transfers abroad

Selling information never happens. Recipients are the providers that host the site, deliver content and handle e-mail, plus public authorities where the law requires. If a provider stores information outside New Zealand, disclosure abroad follows IPP 12: the recipient must be subject to comparable safeguards or the person must have been told and agree.

Safeguards and retention

Reasonable safeguards protect against loss and misuse (IPP 5). Retention lasts as long as the purpose does (IPP 9): server logs a maximum of 90 days, correspondence until the matter is closed plus the period needed to handle any claims. If a notifiable privacy breach occurs, meaning serious harm has been caused or is likely, the Privacy Commissioner and the people affected are told.

Access and correction

Each person may request access to information held about them (IPP 6) and ask for corrections (IPP 7). A reply is given as soon as reasonably practicable, and within 20 working days of receipt at the latest (section 40).

Complaints

Anyone who believes their privacy was breached can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
