Cookie policy – Nzsitereviews

Reviews of betting sites are read in a browser, and a browser keeps small files for the sites it visits. This policy lists what Nzsitereviews stores or reads on a device, why, and how a visitor stays in control. Cookies are small text files; local and session storage entries and counting pixels behave similarly and are covered too.

The law behind the policy

Cookies and similar tools that collect personal information fall under the Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles (section 22). The principles require a lawful purpose connected with the site’s work (IPP 1) and that the person be told what is collected and why (IPP 3). They add reasonable safeguards (IPP 5), no retention beyond need (IPP 9) and conditions for disclosure outside New Zealand (IPP 12). A choice made in the banner may be altered at any moment.

Necessary files

A few files are indispensable: they keep a session going, spread load over servers, shield forms from abuse and record the banner choice itself. They are set without asking. Session files end when the browser is closed; the recorded choice lasts no more than twelve months.

Functional and analytics files

Settings like the review table last opened are remembered by functional files. Analytics files record page views and show which reviews are read, so that the content can be improved. Both types appear only once the banner choice has been made. IP addresses are shortened before analysis and no profile follows behaviour over different sites.

Embedded content

Videos or maps from other services may bring their own files, and that provider’s privacy rules then apply as well, so objections go to the provider. Nzsitereviews itself sets no advertising cookie that builds a profile for personalised ads without a clear choice in the banner.

Withdrawing or changing a choice

The "Cookie settings" link in the footer lets a visitor revise or withdraw a choice whenever wanted; withdrawal applies from then on. Browser privacy settings also allow cookies to be blocked or deleted. Deleting the necessary files brings the banner back, and certain features can pause for a short while.

Complaints

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner receives complaints about the handling of personal information. The privacy policy of this site describes that handling in detail.
